Having now been selected for twenty-three festivals and screenings, it's fantastic to have also picked up some awards along the way. With plans for another short film and various feature ideas in development, these awards all help acknowledge my progress since making my first film in 2003.
The Award for Best Local Film
Stolen Youth was nominated for "Best Short' at the California Independent Film Festival in April 2008. It then went onto to win the 'Best UK Short' at the Canary Wharf Film Festival in August 2008 and on Monday 10th November 2008 it picked up the Guide Award for 'Best Local Film.'
Stolen Youth was screened at Shorts:Cuts a screening of short films organised by Portsmouth Screen in August. It qualified for screening as the producer Gary is based in the area. Since then it was also included as part of a screening at Portsmouth film Festival in September. This led to it being nominated for a 'Guide Award.' These awards are organised by 'The News,' Portsmouths local newspaper and honour cultural events throughout the area. Gary and I attended the awards ceremony and were delighted to pick up the award.

The Canary Wharf Film Festival 2008 - Best UK Short

I had just returned from the Palm Springs Short Film Festival when I attended the screening for the UK Shorts at The Canary Wharf Film Festival. So it certainly helped clear the jet lag to be able to pick up the award for 'Best UK Short' at the awards ceremony on the 1st September 2008.
